Having spent time working with women across different stages of life and creative business, I know that reaching out requires a moment of pause. Every situation is unique, but here are the most common questions women ask before taking that first step toward quiet clarity and positive change.

FAQs

Understanding Coaching and How It Works

  1. What is values-led life and creative business coaching?

Values-led coaching is a safe, structured space to help you untangle quiet overwhelm, set clear boundaries, and realign your daily reality with what actually matters to you.

Rather than pushing rigid corporate targets, hustle tactics, or high-pressure rules, we look at where your energy is leaking and build a calm, grounded way of living or working that feels as rich on the inside as it looks on the outside.

  2. How is coaching different from therapy or traditional consulting?

Coaching is forward-focused, creative, and action-oriented. While therapy often looks backward to heal past trauma or address clinical mental health conditions, coaching meets you where you are today.

We look at what is currently keeping you stuck - whether that is perfectionism, pricing self-doubt, or losing your identity to family life - and design unhurried, practical steps to help you move forward.

  3. What if I do not have a 'big problem' or my life looks fine from the outside?

You do not need to be in crisis to deserve space, support, and clarity. Many high-functioning women appear to have everything completely under control, yet beneath the surface, they are carrying a heavy mental load or feeling deeply unfulfilled.

Coaching gives you full permission to prioritise yourself without waiting until you are completely burnt out.

  4. What is the difference between coaching and mentoring, and how do we work together?

Mentoring typically involves an advisor giving you direct instructions or templates based on their own path, whereas coaching focuses on helping you discover and build what is authentically right for you.

I offer a highly supportive coaching approach.

Rather than handing you rigid templates or telling you how you 'should' run your life or business, I provide a safe, structured sounding board. Through deep listening and reflective questioning, I help you untangle self-doubt, identify where your energy is leaking and gain the clarity to make your own confident decisions.

You remain the expert on your life and work - my role is to help you step into that clarity with total confidence.

Fit, Expectations & Reassurance

  1. What if I am not sure whether coaching is right for me?

That is exactly what A Quiet Conversation is for. This free 20-minute discovery call is a calm, low-pressure space for us to meet, discuss what is currently feeling heavy or tangled and see if my approach feels like a mutual fit.

There is no pitch, no pressure and no expectation to buy a package.

  2. Do I need to have my goals completely figured out before we talk?

Not at all. Most women arrive at our first conversation feeling a bit scattered, tired, or uncertain about what they need next.

You do not need to bring a perfect plan - our work together is designed to untangle the messiness and help you find that clarity step by step.

  3. I have a creative business. Will you force me into aggressive marketing strategies?

Never. If you are an artist, maker, or creative founder, the goal is to build a business that honours your creative soul and energy.

We step away from loud social media templates, pushy sales tactics, and hustle culture, focusing instead on pricing with confidence, establishing quiet boundaries and connecting authentically with your audience.

Practical Details & Logistics

  1. How are the coaching sessions conducted?

All 1:1 sessions and discovery calls are conducted virtually via secure video Zoom calls. This allows you to fit our conversations comfortably into your week from the sanctuary of your own home, studio or quiet space. Location isn’t a problem, I’ve coached people living in Malaysia, Dubai, USA, Holland as well as all over Britain.

If you live in East Lothian or Edinburgh, we can arrange in-person sessions if that suits you better

  2. How much time do I need to commit each week?

Coaching is designed to ease your overwhelm, not add another overwhelming item to your to-do list. Depending on your package, we meet bi-weekly or monthly. No homework is set! A natural plan of actions may arise out of our conversations and so you are welcome to carry out some of these actions between sessions according to your available headspace.

If you do want to carry out plans such as new exercise routines, I also offer accountability check ins to keep you motivated - but this is only if you choose!

  3. Is my privacy protected?

Absolute discretion and confidentiality are central to my practice. Everything shared in our sessions, contact forms, or discovery calls remains strictly private, providing you with a safe space to be entirely honest without fear of judgment.

A large part of the ICF Accreditation exams surround Ethics and ensuring a safe space is maintained.
